Jesse Richard Bennett, 96, of Careywood,, Idaho died on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at his home.
Private memorial services will be held at a later time.
Jesse was born July 26, 1914 in Memphis, Tenn. When he was a teenager, due to the depression, he hopped a train with his brother to make a living in the Southern California area. They shot jackrabbits in Los Angeles to survive, for a time was a bronco rider with the rodeo, and later was a fruit farmer.
He was married to Marian “E” Paddock on June 27, 1945 in Riverside, Calif. They made their home in Yucipa, Calif., until moving to Careywood, Idaho, in 1954.
Together they raised Herefords, farmed and logged.
Jesse was a highly respected S Gauge model railroader, known throughout the world for his expertise. He also was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by two children, Pat Lorenz of Deer Park, Wash., and Richard Bennett of Pocatello, Idaho; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers, and a sister.
