Let's keep the games fun, safe for both sides

On Oct. 21, I had the opportunity to come to Sandpoint to watch my son play football.

Both teams played hard and it was a great game until, with 33 seconds left, a fight broke out when one of our players went out of bounds on the Sandpoint side lines. Lake City’s coaches kept our players from crossing the field and it ended pretty quickly. Unfortunately the young man who went out of bounds was pretty beaten up.

I just wanted to commend the people that came up to us as we were leaving to apologize for the actions of a few. The reoccurring comment was, “They have been like this all year.”

Maybe that should be looked into we have a long tradition of playing each other from junior tackle all the way though high school. Let’s keep it fun.
