Edward Ernest Ahlquist, 85

Edward Ernest Ahlquist, 85, of Sandpoint, Idaho, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Life Care.

Private family services will be held at a later time.

He was born Oct. 28, 1925, in San Diego, Calif., the son of Roger and Billie Ahlquist. He was raised and completed school in San Diego. Following his graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. 

Following the war he returned to San Diego and on Jan. 4, 1945, married Betty Pennington. They lived in California for many years where he worked as a teamster in heavy construction for 35 years. He and Betty moved to Sandpoint in 1988.

Edward is survived by his wife, Betty; a daughter, Allison Winstell of Lamoore, Calif.; a stepson, Dave Dorland of Sandpoint; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
