Our government is the best money can buy

| November 9, 2010 6:00 AM

To paraphrase Will Rogers, “we’ve got the best government money can buy.” Some of the elections in Bonner County surely proved this maxim to be true.

Every day I watch the ordinary folks go about their business, working hard to stay abreast of whatever “costs” come up, on top of daily survival. I watch carpenters who work outside most of time, rain or shine, doing heavy, taxing work each day. Carpenters who must constantly replace tools, clothing, transportation, to keep working. No one pays them for their hand tools or pants they rip up. No Job uniforms are provided. Rarely is medical insurance is provided.

The cost of construction keeps going up, but wages do not. Not in this economic climate  Most, are grateful to even be working.

My point, all you newly-elected folks, I am watching, do what you said in your campaigns, spend the peoples’ money wisely. No public employee raises until the economy is turned around, so all the folks, that do the labor of this nation can also be rewarded for their hard work.
