Paul B, Armstrong, 84, passed away in Post Falls, Idaho, on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, in Coffelt's Funeral Chapel. Ed Dittmar, Post Falls, will be conducting with inurnment in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Paul was born in Dodge City, Kan., on March 30, 1926, the son of Francis and Ruth Armstrong. He graduated from high school in Vale, Ore., in 1944. Following high school he joined the U.S. Army, serving with the US Army Air Corps.

In 1949 he started his career with the Union Pacific Railroad as a section hand. He followed his work with Union Pacific living in southern Idaho and Utah. He was promoted to different positions with UP and lived in Spokane, Wash., from 1960 until 1968.

He married Veldonna Osborn on June 22, 1975, in Sandpoint, Idaho and retired from the railroad in 1986 as engineer of track. He moved to Sandpoint to become a farmer, raising hay and feeding horses. He later became a snowbird, spending winters in Yuma, Ariz., moving to Post Falls in 2002.

Paul loved hunting, fishing, haying on his farm, reloading ammunition, and target shooting. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Sandpoint Saddle Club.

He is survived by his wife, Veldonna, of Post Falls; three children, Paula Laws of Rathdrum, Idaho, Glen Armstrong of Post Falls, and Neil Armstrong of Ontario, Canada.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Ruth Ardis Gudischinki of Alaska, Carol Westfall of Homedale, Idaho, and Joan Whitlow in Yuma, Ariz.
