Irene Helen Brackett, 93

| November 16, 2010 6:00 AM

Irene Helen Brackett, 93, of Sandpoint, Idaho, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Huckleberry Retirement Home.

She was born July 10, 1917, in Aigle, Switzerland, the daughter of Emile and Elizabeth Schori.

She moved to the United States with her parents when she was just a toddler. The family settled in Los Angeles, where she was raised and educated.

She married William Brackett on Oct. 4, 1941 in San Diego, Calif.

They lived in the Los Angeles area until moving to Grass Valley, Calif., in 1985, and then she moved to Sand-point in 2008 to be near her daughter and son, William.

Irene worked as a secretary in land development in the southern California area. When she was in her 50s she discovered a latent artistic talent. She began creating beautiful sculptures, and hand painting china plates.

She was an amazing woman — beautiful, loving, and kind. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

She is survived by three children,  Irene Schori of Sandpoint, William Brackett of Westmond, Idaho, and Anthony Bracket of Nevada City, Calif.;  11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a daughter, her parents and four brothers.

Family and friends are invited to sign Irene’s online guest book at www.coffeltfuneral.com.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
