Lifesavers are true heroes in community

| November 21, 2010 6:00 AM

I would like to thank the following folks for saving the life of Deborah, my bride of more than 40 years. Due to a life-threatening medical emergency I called 911 on  Sunday morning, Nov. 14. I was fortunate enough to connect with Misty, a 911 operator, who kept me calm, took all the necessary information, and coached me as to what to do while I waited.

The three medical responders Misty dispatched — Lisa, Joe, and Brian — arrived more quickly than I expected, we live nearly 20 miles north of Sandpoint. They jumped into action and brought my wife back from the abyss in short order. If you ask any of them, they will say that they were “just doing their job”, and I thank God that they were.

All four of them are heroes in my book, and the test of a real hero is someone who helps others in crisis while displaying humility. I sleep more peacefully now, knowing that we have such a fine team protecting us during unexpected emergencies.

Thanks again, folks. You rock.
