Camp Invention was a success

| October 3, 2010 7:00 AM

I would like to thank the Bird Aviation Museum and Invention Center for hosting Camp Invention again this summer.

At a time when America is facing a critical talent gap in the STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and math), the Bird Museum, in partnership with the Camp Invention program and local, enthusiastic teachers, is inspiring our future scientists and inventors through hands-on exploration, discovery and fun!

More than 80 elementary students in the Sandpoint area joined more than 66,000 students nationwide in honing their 21st Century learning skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, and creativity at Camp Invention this summer.

I especially want to thank Bird Museum and Camp Invention Director Rachel Riddle Schwam, the many museum volunteers, and the talented local teaching staff, for their passion, dedication and hard work this summer.
