Don't believe the hype

| October 3, 2010 7:00 AM

Ron Adamik’s latest letter complaining about President Obama speaking at the Black Caucus, rallying people to get out and vote, as if that was somehow racist, is so ridiculous it’s painful. We all know who the extremists are.

They put their slanderous letters in the paper in rapid succession with one another. Voicing the hate talk shows nearly word for crazy word. The extreme right has become so empowered by the Republican campaign machine of Fox News that they have the preposterous meter skyrocketing.

The problem lies in the fact that you can tell a thousand fools a lie and it then becomes as good as the truth.

It’s insulting and unbelievable that people are still calling the president racist, Marxist, a Communist, and yes, even an alien.

Although all these statements have been proven to be false, that doesn’t seem to matter to many Americans.         We can stand by while the Republicans in Congress stonewall progress for Americans, or we can support our elected president. I encourage you to think about whether or not we can afford to return to the Bush era.         The Republican party took us into two wars, and the worst financial crisis in decades. Smoke screens and made up facts shouldn’t fool us twice.
