Curtis Carl Reed, 61

Curtis Carl Reed, 61, of Sandpoint, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at his home.

Memorial services will be conducted 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at Coffelt Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Jon Pomeroy of the Sandpoint Church of God, officiating.

He was born June 30, 1949, in Sandpoint, the son of Carl and Frances Reed. He was raised in Sandpoint and graduated from high school in 1967.

In 1968 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served four years, and later served in the Idaho Air National Guard for an additional eight years. He married Kathleen Woods in 1970 and they were later divorced.

Curtis attended North Idaho College where he majored in electronics. In 1975 he began working at Encoder Products. He was a dedicated employee for 35 years and his co-workers became his extended family.

He received his ham radio operator’s license at the age of 15 years, which became a lifelong hobby. He was an avid operator and many will know him as N7AH. He was a member of the Bonner County Ham Radio Club, was a range master at the Baldy Mountain Shooting Range, loved his beloved dog, Pudd; and feeding his squirrels.

He is survived by three daughters, Heidi (Tony) Evans of Reno, Nev., Heather (Matt) Sallie of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Amanda (Mike) Majerus of Rochester, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Daniel, Ryan, Samantha, Daila, Colton, Curtis, Cooper and Robert; his mother, Frances Reed of Sandpoint; and by two sisters, Rhonda Van Rossum of Sandpoint, and Jo Ellen (Lonnie) Thompson of Sheridan, Ore. Curtis was preceded in death by his father, Carl; and by a brother, Alan.
