It's time to stand up and stop new taxes

| October 5, 2010 7:00 AM

Have you stopped to consider that we pay taxes every minute of every hour every day. Some would say that is nonsense. Is it really? Consider this fact. At night when you go to bed and the lights are out, you are paying taxes. How, you ask? Because your electric/gas stove, refrigerator and clocks stand ready for use and that requires electricity, which is being taxed for every second it’s being used. Everything you buy is taxed. Check out your phone bill and see all of the taxes you are charged monthly. Have you really examined your light bill lately? Gasoline has a 25-percent tax on it. My property taxes went up this year which I find strange especially since the value of the property went down. What’s up with that?

As a small businessman, the federal, state and county governments have both hands in the pockets of my bib overalls. Because of the gross over taxation and crash of the economy, I’ve had to lay off 10 of the 17 employees my company employed. That translates to 40 people lives being affected in a real negative way because of our government’s socialistic tendencies.

Have you ever wondered why a person would pay 100 million dollars to be a president, senator, congressman or governor? Do you really think they would spend that kind of money only to receive a monthly paycheck!

In 1776, our founding fathers stood up and said they would take no more abuse from Great Britain and revolted. Folks, it’s our turn to stand up and tell our government no more laws, rules and taxes that kill our economy and suppress our citizens.

Please stop drinking the Kool-Aid if you label yourself either Democrat or Republican. Folks we are first and foremost Americans with a representative government. We have the power to stop this nonsense; however, that can only be done if you vote.

Please vote with your hearts and minds; however, before you do, look at your children and grandchildren and think of their future.
