Wampus Cats suffer first league loss of season

CLARK FORK — Brocklynn Thornton returned to the regular rotation with a bang, registering 15 kills, but consistent hitting from Lakeside proved the difference as the Knights handed the Wampus Cats their first North Star League loss, winning 25-20, 25-20, 17-25 and 26-24 Tuesday night in Clark Fork.

Celeste Komanec had 24 set assists and five digs, Dimi Kailang five aces and two blocks, Zara Palmer three aces and Tessa Vogel four kills for the Wampus Cats (9-3, 6-1 NSL), who were never quite clicking.

The Knights (9-1, 7-1 NSL) attacked the middle, avenging an earlier season loss to the Cats.

“Lakeside was hitting out of the middle and it was working for them,” said Clark Fork head coach Michelle Adams, noting it was nice to have her top hitter return from a shoulder injury.

Clark Fork is at Timberlake on Oct. 13.
