Government spending tax dollars foolishly

| October 7, 2010 7:00 AM

On page AA3 of the Oct. 3 Sunday Daily Bee, the headlines note, *“US steel sued over alcohol status.”

*Now, I imagine the average American will simply pass over those headlines and think it is interesting that the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is suing to stop United States Steel Corporation from randomly testing probationary employees for alcohol use. It is also suing the United Steelworkers of America, as the union and the company agreed in collective bargaining that such testing for individuals on probation is important when engaged in a dangerous steelmaking job.

This means that you and I are paying a massive amount of money so government lawyers can attempt to break a contract between a union and a company when there is nothing at all in the constitution that implies that this contract should be any of the federal government’s business.

Every day there are numerous articles, generally passed over, detailing new government rules, new attempts to control people’s lives, getting involved or investigating issues that are absolutely none of the government’s business if the constitution was respected. I guess that if personal freedoms are removed slowly enough, they’re never missed. (And when the government spends your tax money this foolishly, it’s spending your freedom, for your disposable income really helps to ensure your freedom.)
