Would you support those who lie to you?

| October 7, 2010 7:00 AM

Would you knowingly support an entity after they repeatedly lie to you?  As members of Congress scramble to get themselves re-elected, they like to take credit for all sorts of accomplishments to get your vote. By far the best of these lies is the fact that the recession has been squelched for over a year now, thanks to the great job they’ve done.  Let’s review some of their other achievements while we decide if we should vote for them again.

Our two-party system — haven’t we all noticed the new camaraderie between the parties?

Millions of folks are still out of work, which, by the way, is our fault, we’re just not spending money.

However, Congress is very proficient at spending our money for us, our deficit is imploding. Under their watch, one in seven of us is now living below the poverty level and foreclosures are still on the rise. Illegal immigrants are pouring into this country.

We host a public education system that has been spiraling downward, and a pending health care nightmare.

Much of the oil spill in the Gulf has evaporated. … excuse me? Evaporated to where? Better to authorize applications of massive amounts of toxic dispersant and send the oil to the bottom. Out of sight, out of mind.

Former President Bill Clinton says, “Give us two more years to make this work, and if it doesn’t, throw us out.” I think corruption in Congress has run rampant for decades too long. We can’t afford another two years. Throw them out now!
