Put the brakes on non-electric buses
The other day, somebody laid down the same tired argument that businesses, philanthropists, volunteers and friends are more qualified to run public transportation in Ponderay than people we elected because they were qualified to do the job.
There are so many holes I’m not sure where to begin. If you run a coffee business, what interest do you have in the public transport business? If you’re one of the two wealthy philanthropists in town, what brings you out of lakeside retirement and charitable giving to suddenly fire up a new private company? Seriously, lower taxes jazz you up that much?
All of the volunteers and friends I know are broke. Perhaps public transport would attract more seniors to the area. But what smart business person thinks they can turn a buck on them without using electric buses? The person that probably knows the most about getting electric buses at a discount is probably the government.
