| October 21, 2010 7:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce officials have selected Sandpoint Sports as Business of the Month for October 2010 in recognition of its involvement and generosity in the community.

Opening its doors in 1998 as a consignment sporting goods store, Sandpoint Sports quickly evolved into a retail bike and ski shop within three years. In 2007, the business completed construction and moved into its new retail space in Ponderay, next to Taco Bell.

Sandpoint Sports offers professional gear fitting, a full service repair shop as well as bike, ski and snowboard rentals. The repair shop staff are certified experts having completed training from the United Bicycle Institute, Specialized Body Geometry and Master Fit University.

In addition to providing quality gear and expertise they quietly behind the scenes support and donate to many community events and charitable organizations, including CHaFE 150, a Idaho-Montana bike ride that raises money for Panhandle Alliance; Race Across America, which is raising money to battle autism; 24 Hours for Hank, bike and ski races; and Pend Oreille Pedalers, Community Cancer Services and Kaniksu Health .

Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce officials said they are pleased to honor Sandpoint Sports as the October recipient of the Business of the Month and wishes them continued success.
