Wampus Cats host Tigers for state birth
CLARK FORK — The Clark Fork volleyball team has designs on making some noise at state again this year, but before that can happen, the Wampus Cats need to take care of business tonight, when Mullan comes to town for a state play-in game.
Brocklynn Thornton is healthy again, and teams with Mariah Miller to give the Wampus Cats (10-4) plenty of offensive firepower, finishing off the deft setting of Celeste Komanec.
Mullan (10-4) beat Kootenai 15-11 in the fifth game of the 1A Division II playoff opener on Tuesday, earning the right to play the Wampus Cats for the right to go to state.
While both teams sport identical records, the Cats were 7-1 in the North Star League play, while the Tigers were 4-4, and the Cats also played six of their matches this season against teams with higher classifications.
The championship match tips off at 6 p.m. at Clark Fork High School.
