George Lawrence Shaw, 83

George Lawrence Shaw, 83, of Post Falls, Idaho, died Oct. 22, 2010, at 3:35 a.m. at Life Care Center of Post Falls.

Viewing is at 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday, Oct. 28. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday  at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St. in Post Falls with burial to follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.

George was born in Omaha, Neb., on Jan. 24, 1927, to Leanore Lucille Clark and Noah Webster Shaw. The family moved around a great deal and he finished school in Paradise, Calif.

George joined the U.S. Navy during World War II and enlisted again in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged.

He married Dorothy Myrtle Thomas on June 8, 1946, in Reno., Nev. He had two daughters, Sheila Ann (Mark) Huber of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Georgene Myrtle (Tim) Larson of Nampa Idaho.

George has three granddaughters, Michelle Renee (Ben) Bishop of Walla Walla, Wash., who blessed him with two great-granddaughters, Stefanie Laurel Bishop and Julianna Marie Bishop; Tina Mary (Scott) Sanders of Nampa, and Tennille Angeline (Carlos) Avelenda of Scottsdale, Ariz., who blessed him with a great-grandson, Enzo Gabriel Avelenda, and a great-granddaughter, Eden Giselle Avelenda.

He also leaves his wife, JoAnn Estes Shaw of Post Falls; and his three sisters, Virginia Naomi Spreen of Wasilla, Alaska; Barbara Jean Schrenk of Auburn, Wash., and Nancy Loren (Gary) Bolden of Vancouver, Wash.; brother-in-law, John Yankee of Willows, Calif.; his aunt, Sis Thorn, and uncle, Bill Clark, of Sacramento, Calf., area.

His parents preceded him in death as did a sister, Dorothy Mae Yankee; and his brothers-in-law, Herb Spreen and Harold Schrenk; and a sister, Mary Noreeen Shaw, who died in infancy.
