Yes Virginia, trick or treating is on Sunday

| October 29, 2010 1:23 PM

Trick or treating in Bonner County will be held on Sunday despite rampant Facebook rumors and text messages saying the event has been changed to Saturday.

The Daily Bee office has been bombarded with telephone calls regarding the matter.

Callers have even asked what time trick or treating is to start. People should treat trick or treat as they have in past years — beginning and finishing when they choose to do so.

It is believed that the confusion started because of an unrelated matter: the celebration of Fourth of July activities this past summer which were held on Saturday rather than Sunday (the actual date of the event).

However, the decision to change the date of Fourth of July events coordinated by the Sandpoint Lions club was made by the club to accommodate Sunday services held by local churches.

Since Halloween is an uncoordinated event, the Great Pumpkin will arrive on his normal date.
