SANDPOINT — The Bonner County Clerk’s Office is reminding absentee voters to turn in their ballots before it’s too late.

Clerk Marie Scott said nearly 4,000 absentee ballots have been distributed for Tuesday’s general election and a significant number of them remain unaccounted for.

“There are still 700 of them out. They need to get those returned here to the office,” said Scott, a Democrat who faces Republican Bud Mueller in Tuesday’s contest.

Absentee ballots cannot be turned in a polling precincts. They have to be turned in at the clerk’s election office, located on the third floor of the Bonner County Administration Building at U.S. Highway 2 at Division Avenue.

Scott said the county will be beat an absentee voting record for a midterm election.

“We broke not our best record, but a record for an off-presidential year election,” said Scott.

The clerk’s office has also changed the way it displays election results on the county website. In previous elections, voters could track the counts by downloading results in spreadsheet or potable document formats.

Instead of those formats, the results of the general election will be presented in a basic web page format, which requires no additional software to download in order to view the results.

The results will be posted on the clerk’s election page on the county website (www.co.bonner.id.us).
