On Aug. 28, 2010, Mason Justin was in a fatal motorcycle accident in Athol, Idaho, near his home.

Mason leaves behind a wife, Christy; and two daughters, Sunshine Cassidy, 13, and River Jade, 7. Mason was born on Dec. 28, 1973, in San Leandro, Calif. Mason married the love of his life, Christy Denney, on Aug. 18, 2001.

Mason also is survived by his father, Larry Justin; mother, Debbie Justin; and twin brother, Jason Justin. Mason was blessed with many friends and family.

Mason moved to the Sandpoint area in May 1997 to camp on his Dad's property, Mason's lifelong dream was to live in the woods and build his own home. He came out in his ‘58 Chevy pickup with his black lab, and decided he didn't want to go back to California.

Christy came out in July 1997 to "visit," and so it began; they started out with a two-man tent. They bought their first load of 2x6s, July 16, to start building on his dream.

Mason and Christy were married in 2001 at the home they built together, and recently celebrated their ninth anniversary on Aug. 18.

Mason was an avid hunter, and fisherman. He had recently been working on adding bow hunting, to his repertoire, and was quite proficient at it. He has a few trophies and was very proud of his award-winning deer antlers from one of his deer. He never got to realize his dream of harvesting an elk.

Mason was a self-taught, on the job, machinist, most recently employed at Another Screw Machine Products, in Ponderay. Mason made many close friends on the job and he and his family enjoyed camping with these friends over the years any chance they got.

Mason loved his Harley, a 1991 Springer that he named "Black Betty." Mason was a member of the Ironhorse Riders Association and very active in helping with the many community fund raisers they do.

An account has been set up for the family. Donations can be made out to the "Justin Family Memorial Fund" and dropped off at any Mountain West Bank.

A memorial is planned for Saturday at 1 pm at the Justin Family Home. The address is 2071 Homestead Road in Athol. The family asked that you bring beverages and snacks.
