RATHDRUM — Shane Stanley scored two goals to lift the visiting Bulldogs past the Hawks 5-0 in a 4A Inland Empire League boys soccer match at Corbit Field on Tuesday.

Stanley now has nine goals on the season, and has emerged as another scoring threat to complement Tanner Williams, who slotted his 16th goal of the year to jump start a second half that saw Sandpoint (5-2-1, 1-0 4A IEL) explode for four goals.

Jasper Gibson and Spencer Hanson also rippled the net, with both goals earning praise from head coach Adam Tajan.

“Jasper and Spencer had some nifty finishes at the end,” he said. “I liked how we got things going in the second half. We did a good job on crosses.”

Kanyen Bauer picked up his second shutout in goal, as the Bulldogs held a 15-5 lead in shots on goal. Chris Jackson had five saves for Lakeland (0-5, 0-2), which is still searching for its first win.

“The first half was the best we’ve played all year,” Lakeland coach Nick Haynes said. “We did a good job of containing Tanner (Williams) and it was a pretty evenly played match. We kind of died off in the second half. Sandpoint is a good team, and we knew that coming in.”

Sandpoint will host Post Falls on Thursday.
