Audience support helps arts to thrive

| September 9, 2010 7:00 AM

I’d like to use this space to give special thanks to all of your readers who came out to support my play, “Death of a Small Town in the West” which was recently held at the Panida Theater.

The play was an enormous success, and it wouldn’t have been so without the support of the audience. Part of what makes Sandpoint so great is the fact that our townsfolk can put aside their political opinions and laugh at our faults together. Communities build character when they accept the viewpoints of all, from the richest greedhead to the poorest freak, and character is what we need to keep this community active and growing intelligently.

I only hope that we see more work from local writers and actors that push the limits, because a lively theater scene is what a small town in the West is all about.
