Thunder making noise in volleyball, boys soccer

SANDPOINT — The Kootenai Thunder boys soccer and volleyball teams recently made their debuts as members of the Mountain Christian League, made up of private schools and home school organizations in North Idaho and Western Washington. The Kootenai Thunder is a high school made up of students from around the Sandpoint area, and also boasts boys and girls basketball teams.

The Thunder boys soccer team opened its season by beating the Christian Heritage Patriots 5-3 last week in Edwall, Wash. David Currie led the Thunder with three goals, and Jonathon Ringhand followed up with two more. The Thunder then hosted the Immaculate Conception Academy Cristeros at Centennial Field, falling 8-2. Jonathon Ringhand scored the first goal of the night, with Brayden Mathews adding the other.

The Thunder volleyball team opened its season with a straight set 25-10, 25-16 and 25-13 win over the Patriots last week, then followed that win up by claiming the championship at a varsity tournament hosted by North Idaho Christian Center in Hayden Lake.
