Sandpoint swim team wins at Icebreaker
MOSCOW — Michele Rockwell finished second in the 500 free and third in the 200 free, and Barry Wilson was second in the 200 free and fourth in the 100 free to lead the Sandpoint swim team in its season opening meet on Saturday in Moscow.
Keeley Pearlstein grabbed a second in the 100 backstroke, Alex Krames a fifth in the 200 free and Kaitlin Wallis a fifth in the 50 free to round out the Bulldog girls who placed in the top five individually.
Graham Cole finished second in the 100 fly and fifth in the 200 IM, Chris Mann third in both the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke, Steven Gavin fourth in the 200 free and Max Horn fifth in the 100 backstroke to round out the Bulldog boys to grab top five finishes.
The Sandpoint girls posted a strong showing in three relays, finishing fourth in the 400 free relay (Rockwell, Pearlstein, Krames and Beth DiBenedetto), fourth in the 200 free relay (DiBenedetto, Wallis, Shanna Crayne, Rachel O’Connor) and fifth in the 200 medley relay (Rockwell, Pearlstein, Krames and Wallis).
The boys team finished third in both the 400 free relay (Mann, Graham, Wilson and Horn) and the 200 medley relay (Mann, Cole, Wilson and Gavin).
Sandpoint hosts Post Falls on Sept. 22, at 4:30 p.m. at the SWAC.
