Palin's timing is perfect to run for president

| September 19, 2010 7:00 AM

Sandpoint-born, University of Idaho-educated former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is inching closer to running for president in 2012.

She announced yesterday that she’s willing to “give it a shot.”

Why not?

The former Alaska governor certainly achieved rock star status on her wildly successful book tour. She is the current poster child for all things Republican and has instant name recognition throughout the country. And her first name isn’t Newt.

She also has positioned herself on the right side of the GOP and is the most electable in a gaggle of lukewarm candidates.

The recent successes of Tea Party candidates definitely shows the GOP’s political fortunes are headed to candidates on the far right of right.

Win, lose or draw, her candidacy would be an economic boon for this area.

Whether you believe in her politics or think she is remotely qualified to hold the most powerful position in the world, remember this is America and everyone has a right to run for president.

“If the American people were to be ready for someone who is willing to shake it up, and willing to get back to time-tested truths, and help lead our country towards a more prosperous and safe future and if they happen to think I was the one, if it were best for my family and for our country, of course I would give it a shot,” she said.

Any bets that she is in?
