Buratto leads Bulldogs to win
COEUR d’ALENE — This time it was Sandpoint who fell behind early before rallying for the win, downing Lake City 19-25, 25-19, 25-21 and 25-16 Tuesday night in nonleague volleyball action at Lake City High School.
Sam Buratto hammered home 13 kills to go with two blocks for the Bulldogs (5-4), Blake Plaster added 15 digs, Ariel Moe 22 set assists and Mackenzie Jones four aces as the Bulldogs won the final three games in decisive fashion.
“We’re excited to not have a repeat,” said head coach Karen Alsager, alluding to earlier losses where the Bulldogs took early leads before losing. “Sam hit well, hit aggressive and smart on the attack line. She’s also becoming a strong leader and is confident in the senior role.”
Jennifer Schuman had 20 kills to lead Lake City (6-6).
The Sandpoint JV team and C-team both swept their Lake City opponents, which Alsager said is always a good sign against the 5A teams.
Sandpoint is at Moscow on Thursday.
