Top Dog Wrestling to hold registration on Tuesday

| September 30, 2010 7:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Attention area youth wrestlers: Registration for Top Dog Wrestling will be held Tuesday, Oct. 5 at the East Bonner County Library, from 4:30-6 p.m.

The program, which is open to all students in grades K through 8, is divided into two groups: beginner and advanced.

The beginner group will practice Mondays and Thursdays from 5:15-6:20 p.m., beginning Monday, Oct. 11 in the Sandpoint High School wrestling room. These high-energy practices focus on tumbling, agility and wrestling basics.

The advanced group, which typically includes wrestlers with at least three years of competitive experience, will practice Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:15-6:40 p.m. at SHS.

Top Dog is quickly establishing itself, once again, as one of the region’s premier youth wrestling programs. Additionally, because of its focus on athletic development as well as wrestling technique, the program provides outstanding off-season training for both football and soccer players alike.

As in the past, however, space is limited to ensure athletes receive quality instruction. The cost of the program is $50, which includes secondary insurance, T-shirt and all practices. The season includes five tournaments, all located in the North Idaho area. Beginners, however, are not required to attend tournaments.

Top Dog Wrestling is a registered non-profit youth sports program.
