Commissioners need to support health plan
To reduce the bill for health insurance of the county employees and make taxpayer dollars go farther, Mike Nielson’s plan for healthier employees is a no-brainer. We all know that government on a county, state and federal level needs to be more fiscally responsible. Everyone needs to realize that saving money wherever possible is a sign of the time. I would think every individual has had to tighten his/her belt on personal expenditures. What’s not to understand?
When people are healthier, they not only feel better but they are more productive. They have more energy. I do not understand the animosity toward this idea. If it means you’re getting healthier, what is not to like. If yopu enjoy the party, you might get to stay longer.
I know there has been some comment about more government regulation into our lives. This proposal is not about directing individuals, it is a county thing. Trying to reduce the cost of insurance premiums is a good way to have more funds elsewhere. If you have a problem with the plan, maybe you consider no county employment.
Sounds like Marie Scott is taking the idea personally.Times are tough- one needs to stop making excuses and do what he/she can do to help. Would be great if the other commissioners would get on board.
People — wake up — there are counties everywhere that are in the red, cutting human intersest programs, laying off workers and facing rising costs. Healthcare costs are a huge concern especially with the passage of Obamacare. When you would be facing a layoff, is getting healthier that much to ask.
Merit pay would also be a good installation.Output would be higher quality and effiency would be improved.
