Clark Fork tennis team downs Libby

LIBBY, Mont. — Nate Nesbitt notched an 8-3 win at No. 1 singles and 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, and Claire McMahon won at 8-3 at No. 1 doubles and 8-3 at No. 2 singles to lead Clark Fork to a 5-3 win over Libby in nonleague tennis action Wednesday in Montana.

Stillman Berkley teamed with Nesbitt in doubles, before falling 7-5  in a pro set tie-breaker at No. 2 singles, earning his coach’s praise in defeat.

“Stillman played the best singles match I’ve ever seen him play,” said Mary Jo Lambert. “The way he was driving, mixing his shots up and playing some really heady tennis.”

Brocklynn Thornton teamed with McMahon in doubles, then fell 8-3 at No. 1 singles. Tala Fehsel and Heather Wold won 8-3 at No. 2 girls doubles, while Tristin Bristol and Zach Nesbitt fell 8-2 at No. 2 boys doubles to round out the action.

Clark Fork is at the Lewiston League tournament on Saturday.
