Government is too destructive

“We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness,” states the Declaration of Independence upon which our government was founded. I believe our government has forsaken these truths and become a financial sponge, sucking the life out of the people it governs.

In past years our nation has sent millions of dollars in aide to countries that war against us, while our citizens struggle to survive, and many are homeless and hungry. We pay huge amounts for government officials and offices while “the people” are taxed beyond limits, barely able to provide for their families. We build new Health and Welfare buildings while we take away medical, dental, and needed health care from the aged, disabled or defenseless. I don’t advocate overthrowing the government, but we must seriously ask, “Has our government become destructive, no longer affecting the peoples’ safety and happiness? What can we do about it?”
