SANDPOINT — Junior Christian Kennedy buried two of Sandpoint’s four first quarter 3-pointers as the Bulldogs jumped out to a big first quarter lead, but alas they were playing reigning 5A state champion Post Falls, which took control from there en route to a 78-61 nonleague win in boys basketball Thursday night at Les Rogers Court.

Cole Fuhrman led the Bulldogs (9-8) with 16 points and six rebounds on 6 of 15 shooting, and Kennedy dropped in 14 points in just 13 minutes, scoring from both from long range and slick moves to the basket. Kennedy continues to emerge as an offensive weapon as the season has progressed.

Conner Hill scored most of his 18 points from the outside for the Trojans (15-2), and Marcus Colbert scored most of his 18 points on athletic drives and finishes at the rim. The Trojans are currently ranked No. 2 in the state behind Borah in the 5A ranks, and Sandpoint went toe to toe with them for stretches.

The Bulldogs now turn their attention to the most important game of the season on Saturday, when they travel south to face Moscow at the Bear Den. The winner earns the right to host the 4A Region 1 tournament, where home court advantage is pivotal.
