Bears defeat Sandpoint, 73-50
MOSCOW — With the No. 1 seed and home court advantage for the 4A Region 1 tournament on the line, Sandpoint struggled on both ends of the court, falling 73-50 to Moscow on Saturday at the Bear Den.
Moscow (6-11, 3-1 4A IEL) made 26 of 45 field goals for a tidy 58 percent shooting, while the Bulldogs (9-9, 3-1 4A IEL) made only 12 field goals on 35 percent shooting, struggling to find any kind of rhythm offensively.
“It was a thrashing from the beginning,” said a disappointed Sandpoint head coach Tyler Haynes, whose team beat Moscow 41-33 in the first meeting. “It was over at tip-off. Moscow played really, really well, and we’ve got a lot to learn from that.”
With the win Moscow earned home court advantage for the district tournament, and will await the winner of the Sandpoint and Lakeland game, slated for Feb. 15.
Sandpoint is at Lake City on Thursday.
