Freedom of choice slowly eroding away

| February 6, 2011 6:00 AM

There once was a time when people practiced keeping their political and religious opinions to themselves. Those people practiced peace and respected the rights of others.

Now days, it seems everyone is vehement and opinionated about their views on politics and/or religion, among other things.

It generally ends up with the loudest mouth winning the argument or someone ends up getting hurt. And this right of choice includes the right to choose our beliefs, where we live, go to school and work, how we live, whom we marry or not, etc.

Personal political and religious choices are no longer the mode; only the loud blustering opinions get the attention. Sounds very much like young men trying to keep ahead of the bulls racing to the arena. Opinions are just that — opinions — and most are bull-headed at that.

It used to be that the majority of American people ruled (not the majority in Congress.) Our sacred and guaranteed freedom of choice is slowly eroding away.
