District needs to learn to do more with less

| February 17, 2011 6:00 AM

The Lake Pend Oreille School District is again coming to our community with its hands out for more funds.

With record numbers of Bonner County residents out of work, and those of us with jobs just scraping by, here comes LPOSD with another levy. Most of the employees I know have not seen a raise in four years, not to mention an actual reduction in pay, to hold onto their jobs.

Instead of expense reduction, I get a letter in the mail telling me to vote for the latest levy, paid for with my tax dollars. My family and I will vote no on March 8.

We have done many things as a family to reduce our expenses as the latest recession rages on, contrary to what the Obamedia tells us. Now is hardly the time to be asking the taxpayer for more money. Now is the time to reduce expenses dramatically.

While you and I have to do more with less, Dick Cvitanich and company just throw another levy up and see if it sticks. If you own a small business in Bonner County, you had better get behind the no vote. If this latest in a very long list of levies passes, my family and especially those on fixed incomes will not be spending our few remaining dollars at your business. We will be eating rice and beans, while Dick and co. send us letter (at our expense) thanking us for the new greenbacks.

Vote no on March 8.
