For the good of all, let's support levy

| February 17, 2011 6:00 AM

I have been looking at my tax bill and observe the following:

I pay a big chunk of money to the “county.” This goes to the folks who run our county and they answer to us.

I pay to the county Road & Bridge account, the P.O. Hospital, the East Bonner County Library, the Northside Fire District and the ambulance district. I pay a “forest assessment” and “FPA” that goes to Idaho Department of Lands for its use in combating forest fires, and I pay a solid waste fee.

I willingly pay these charges because I support our county as a whole. Even though I may not use all the facilities available to me I have friends and neighbors do use them.

I pay a big chunk to the Lake Pend Oreille School District. I have no children in any of the district schools (I do have a grandson, however.)

I support the Lake Pend Oreille School District tax and levy. People besides my parents paid for my way through school. Others helped us pay for our kids to go through Bonner County schools. I have no qualms about helping others through school by supporting our local school district.

Rules and regulations are getting more stringent and all costs are going up. I know it’s hard to do at times, but for the good of the community, the county, the state and the country, let’s support the school levy on March 8.
