Will the real Bruce please stand up?
On, Feb. 6, a letter was published and lent support to President Barack Obama apparently triggered by his recent State of the Union speech. It called for working together in spite of political differences and finished with “support the message even if you don’t support the president.” It was actually a well-written letter with heartfelt feelings well penned. It was signed Bruce Johnson
It would be nice to bask in the friendly light illuminated by the words “Bruce is right” from Bob Wynhausen, and similar accolades from other leftish contributors, and tempting to run with the letter’s conciliatory tone and the peace it would bring with the liberal bloggers. It would mean that I have given the political climate a second look, inspired by Obama’s State of the Union speech, moved into his camp and totally abandoned my values. A huge change all based on one more meaningless, flowery and sermon-like dissertation from the chameleon in the White House.
The truth is I passed on watching the speech, choosing to simply watch the Fox News responses later and save myself some aggravation. The ideals I would like to leave my children’s generation are the ones I grew up being taught, not the ones the left has been trying to peddle. I don’t need a brass ring through my nose to be led around by the nanny state mentality currently being offered by this administration.
I did not write that letter. Will the other Bruce Johnson please stand up?
