Glidden joins Darby Counseling staff as intern

| February 23, 2011 6:00 AM

SANDPOINT — A Sandpoint native is back in the community, working at Darby Counseling as part of a three-month internship.

Brom Glidden began the internship with Cyndee Darby, licensed clinical professional counselor, of Darby Counseling on Feb. 7. He is a student in the last year of his master’s degree program in counseling psychology at Walla Walla University in Washington state,

Glidden is looking forward to providing therapeutic counseling services for the Sandpoint community. Because he is an intern, his counsel sessions will be offered free of charge, although he can accept donations to help support his internship program.

Glidden hopes people seeking short-term therapy, or low-income clients will seek his services.

For the past four years, Cyndee Darby’s counseling offices has been housed at Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sandpoint. Although she works on occasion co-counseling Christian clients with Pastor Steve Nickodemus, the counseling office provides counseling services for the general public either individually, with couples or family members.

Glidden said he is pleased to be completing his internship program with Darby Counseling that will lead to his master’s degree in counseling psychology. He currently has a Bachelor of Arts degree with a psychology major. Except for the internship experience, he has finished all his master’s degree program course work as well as already having completed 300 hours of clinical training.

While he will be working with Darby Counseling, Glidden will be formally supervised by Eric Ridgway, M. Ed., LCPC (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor) of Sandpoint.

Raised in Sandpoint, Glidden attended private Christian schools from the third through tenth grades. He was married in 2008 and his wife Elizabeth will be staying in Walla Walla during his internship while she continues her nursing studies at Walla Walla Community College.

Glidden has been a military service member of the Washington State Air National Guard. He was based at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane for four years. He completed both his boot camp and advanced training and left the military with the rank of a senior airman.

His goal after university graduation and earning counsel licensures, is to eventually work primarily with couples. He and his wife would like to stay in the Northwest, hopefully residing in either the Spokane or Coeur d’Alene area.

He can be reached at Darby Counseling by calling 263-6219.
