District levy is vital to students' success

| February 24, 2011 6:00 AM

Please vote yes on Tuesday, March 8, for the replacement supplemental levy.

We have children attending Sandpoint High School and Washington Elementary. The staff/teachers at these schools are exceptional. They are hard-working, dedicated, resourceful and compassionate. They care very much for their students, want them to do well, and are doing whatever it takes to help them each reach his/her full potential.

Your voting to pass this levy really matters in the future of each student. Please know that your tax dollars are being well spent and will continue to be, as it appears every penny is being watched carefully, just as you would expect. This levy funding will provide for academic and athletic extracurricular activities which are so important in kids’ development. Rigorous academics and competitive athletics are the spice of their lives. Tech upgrades and tech staff are necessary for students to compete in their futures and new curriculum materials are vital for their success.

Please know, as parents with children attending schools in the Lake Pend Oreille School District, we appreciate your support. There will soon be a day when our kids graduate and then it will be our turn to support education for others. You have set a great precedent for us to follow — to take care of all kids and do whatever it takes to help them be successful in their lives. The passing of this levy and your vote on March 8 really matter. Thanks!
