Vote yes for better, continued education

| February 24, 2011 6:00 AM

School levy — an average increase of $3.44 per month or $41.28 a year.

What does $3.44 buy? A box of Cheerios, a chicken pot pie or even a bag of chips and what do you have in the end? Nothing, maybe more energy or a little more weight.

The $3.44 in education is an investment in your, and my, way of life many times over. These students are our future. The education system is not broken, it just needs help and that’s where you and I come in with a yes vote on March 8.

Not trying to brag, but my wife and I have never voted against any issue regarding the education in Bonner County. Even after our children were out of school, it was still a priority to go to the polls and vote yes. We have never questioned the education that our children received. You get out of education what you put into it, as a student or as a parent, and approving $3.44 a month is not asking too much.

Whether you have small children not yet in school or are grandparents with no kids in school, this is an opportunity to make a statement for better and continued education.

Please vote yes.
