Hats off to the real Bruce Johnson for his recent letter demonstrating the root cause of the problems facing our nation today. Regarding the State of the Union Address Bruce writes, “The truth is I passed on watching the speech, choosing to simply watch the Fox News responses later and save myself some aggravation.” Later in the same paragraph he writes, “I don’t need a brass ring through my nose to be led around by the nanny state mentality currently being offered by this administration.”

Well, Bruce, it appears to me that perhaps you do have a brass ring through your nose, but the other end of the rope is being held, not by the administration, but rather by the pundits at Fox. I didn’t like the last president, but I listened to his press conferences and speeches so that I would know what he really said. My life would have been much simpler had I had someone I trusted enough to let do the thinking for me.
