SANDPOINT — The North Idaho Violent Crimes Task Force is seeking the public’s help in locating former Bonner County resident Grant “Bear” Timothy Larson.

The task force did not disclose why they are seeking Larson, although documents filed in 1st District Court indicate he is wanted for a domestic violence-related probation violation in a 2008 felony assault case.

The probation violation stems from a incident in Coeur d’Alene last month in which Larson repeatedly struck his girlfriend and attempted to strangle her, according to court documents.

Authorities suspect he may be in the company of the 25-year-old girlfriend, Marie Alicen Thompson, and their 4-month-old child. They further suspect he may have fled to Canada in a white 1997 Toyota RAV4. The crossover sport utility vehicle has Idaho plates (7B-F7802).

Larson, 32, is a native North American with black hair and brown eyes. He’s 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds. He has a number of tattoos, including ones that say “Savage” and “Oso Tight” on his neck, the task force said.

Larson is on probation in connection with an aggravated assault conviction resulting from an alleged stabbing in Ponderay in 2008. Larson was initially charged with knifing a man in the abdomen, but the victim in the case pinned the stabbing on an accomplice of Larson’s.

The victim recovered from his wounds and Larson ultimately sentenced to 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 years in prison. Jurisdiction was retained, which qualified him for an early release onto probation.

While that matter was pending, Larson was charged with second-degree robbery in King County, Wash., for allegedly attacking an acquaintance and stealing his wallet in 2009. He was sentenced to probation in that case, court documents indicate.

Larson returned to Idaho last month, but failed to report to Idaho Department of Correction officials, which were supervising his probation in both the Idaho and Washington cases.

IDOC Probation & Parole Officer Doug Hall said in a report that given Larson’s history of violence, failure to comply with court orders and unknown whereabouts, the domestic violence allegations are “a matter of concern.”

Those with information about Larson’s whereabouts are urged to call the task force at (208) 666-5747 or Bonner Dispatch at 265-5525.
