Bulldog girls fall to reigning 5A champs
SANDPOINT — Erin Legel and Caelyn Orlandi scored 14 points apiece to lead Coeur d’Alene to a 61-23 win over Sandpoint in nonleague girls basketball Tuesday night at Les Rogers Court.
Freshman Hailey Olin scored nine and Maggie Kirscher tallied seven to go with six rebounds to lead the Bulldogs (6-9), who were plagued by 28 turnovers and a host of second chance buckets, as the Vikings (11-4) capitalized on many of their 12 offensive boards.
“We forced them to miss their first chances, but it’s (defensive rebounding) been our achilles heel all year,” said Bulldogs coach Lance Bruce. “When we limit second chance points, we do well.”
Sandpoint is at Bonners Ferry on Saturday night for the Moose Madness Spirit Games.
