Ringhand leads Thunder to wins
SANDPOINT — Behind a rock-solid double-double from Jonathan Ringhand, the Kootenai Thunder boys basketball team beat North Idaho Christian 45-38 recently in Hayden Lake.
Ringhand posted 19 points and 18 rebounds to help blow the game open in the third quarter after the game was tied 12-12 at half. Tayler Jensen added eight points and 14 boards, David Currie added five points and Anthony Gold and Johnny Soderberg four apiece.
The Thunder followed up with a 58-54 overtime win over Immaculate Conception Academy in Liberty Lake. Ringhand had another monster game, scoring 31 points to go with 18 rebounds. Gold added nine points and Tayler Gould dropped in eight, Ian Wheeler scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds and Jensen finished with eight rebounds.
The win streak came to an end on Tuesday, as they fell 62-56 to Christian Heritage at Kootenai Elementary School. Gold had his best game of the season with 15 points, Ringhand added 20 points and nine boards and Jensen 13 and six.
The Thunder girls basketball team lost 45-25 to the North Idaho Christian School Royals in Hayden Lake recently. Christine Tupper led the Thunder with 10 points and three rebounds, Kathryn Blair and Joyce Blair added four points each and Nikki Jensen and Katie Ployhar two points apiece in defeat.
On Tuesday, the Thunder girls fell 46-36 to Christian Heritage. Kathryn Blair scored nine points to go with 11 rebounds, Tupper added 10 and five, Jensen five and six, Ployhar four and five and Joyce Blair scored eight.
