Community's kindness means a lot to family

| January 20, 2011 6:00 AM

On Nov. 25, 2010, my family and I were heading to Spokane from Calgary, Alberta. On the way, we flipped our vehicle while driving between Bonners Ferry and Sandpoint.

A few of us were taken to the hospital in Sandpoint by ambulance. We were all fine, just a few stitches and a bump on the head.

I have never experienced kindness such as I received in the two days that we were there. I am ashamed it has taken me so long to write and thank everyone.

It all started with the kindness at the hospital. It was very bad weather that night and after we were all fixed up and ready to go we found a hotel at La Quinta Inn. We thought we would just walk there but the doctors and nurses refused to let us leave as the weather was bad and the taxi services were not running. The doctor told us he was going to drive us. Wow. Well, he got busy so they called the Sandpoint Police Department and several officers came to drive us the few blocks to the hotel.

The kindness didn’t stop there. We checked into the hotel and called the front desk to see if there was anywhere open to get some items for the baby with us. The wonderful lady at the front desk said that if we could wait 10 minutes until she was off her shift, she could take us to Safeway. Wow.

They had towed our vehicle to Clyde’s and the receptionist and the fellows working there were so kind and very helpful and very wonderful to work with.

The kindness and generosity that we experienced in the two days that we were there was amazing. I wish to thank everyone that helped.

Hopefully some of you will read this and know that you have touched my life forever. Your city is truly amazing and I hope that you are all proud of the citizens that are there with you.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart
