SANDPOINT — A Bonner County man was arrested after allegedly stabbing another man in the forearm in Oldtown on Saturday.

Daryl James Hollingsworth is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Washington state alleging he possessed a stolen vehicle last year.

Hollingsworth, 39, made an initial court appearance on Monday, where he was ordered held on $50,000 bail. Judge Barbara Buchanan appointed a public defender to represent him, court records show.

The alleged victim, 38, received stitches for a 2-inch stab at the community hospital in Newport, Wash., court records said. What led up to the stabbing was not explained in court records.

The incident took place at Mr. D’s Auto in Oldtown, a business which Hollingsworth identified as his place of employment and residence. The business owner told a Bonner County Sheriff’s deputy that Hollingsworth admitted stabbing the man.

Hollingsworth signed a waiver of extradition, which means he will not challenge being transferred to Spokane County, Wash., after his legal troubles in Idaho are resolved. Hollingsworth is accused of possessing a stolen Toyota Camry in July 2010.
