Man's act of kindness should inspire us all

| January 25, 2011 6:00 AM

I was selling a large walk-in firewood shed. A young engineer, Steve Durban from Sandpoint, bought it. He was going to make a gift of the shed to an elderly man who’s low on funds but who needed some way to keep his firewood dry for his winter needs. I was very impressed that anyone would go to all the expense and work to help someone else.

On a very cold and rainy day, Steve, his three sons and Don Larson, a Priest River engineer, appeared and dismantled the shed. They loaded it on a large trailer and took it to Sandpoint to re-erect it.

The above is an act of generosity that is uncommon in our society. If we all, including me, copied this generosity toward the needy we’d have a better society.
