Wampus Cat boys win third straight
NEWPORT — Senior Nate Nesbitt poured in a game-high 18 points, Stillman Berkley and Zack Klein each posted a double-double, and the Clark Fork boys basketball team notched a third straight win, downing the Newport JV 57-40 on Saturday night in Newport.
Klein continues to emerge as a scoring option, dropping in 15 points to go with 11 boards, while Berkley scored 11 and swiped the glass to the tune of 18 rebounds.
“He’s been a terror down on the boards every game,” said Wampus cats head coach Corey Vogel of Berkley, who plays much bigger than his height. “All five starters really contributed. We’re starting to flow well together, and having a lot of fun.”
D. J. Jackson added five assists and four steals for the Wampus Cats (4-5), who committed only 11 turnovers, a number any coach would be pleased with.
Clark Fork hosts the running Knights from Lakeside in a North Star League game tonight, with the JV’s tipping it up at 6 p.m. and the varsity to follow at 7:30.
