Hot shooting Knights bury Wampus Cats

CLARK FORK — The good news was that the Wampus Cat boys played their best quarter of basketball all year. The bad news was that the other three quarters left plenty to be desired, as Clark Fork was doubled up 82-40 by Lakeside in North Star League boys basketball Tuesday night in Clark Fork.

Nate Nesbitt scored 14 points, Zack Klein scored 12 points and grabbed nine boards, and Stillman Berkley added eight and nine for the Wampus Cats (4-6, 1-3 NSL), who exploded for 22 second quarter points but could not break double digits in any other quarter.

“We played one of the best quarters we’ve played all year, but it was the only quarter we played,” said Cats coach Corey Vogel, whose team was undone by 22 turnovers in the first half. “The rest of the game we were hesitant and didn’t shoot well. Somehow Lakeside has our number, and they’re a good shooting team.”

Nate Weaselhead poured in a game-high 26 points and Lamont Higgins added 18, as the Knights eclipsed 20 points in the first three quarters, including a whopping 28 third quarter points.

Clark Fork is at Wallace on Friday.
