Use local contractors to build detention center
With the economy as bad as it is, causing our local contractors and tradesmen to suffer, why didn’t the Bonner County Justice Services look to using our own builders to construct the new youth detention center?
We, as a community, were able to come together to build a house for a TV show and I am sure that our local contractors could use the work and would spend their money here, not wherever the Ormand Builders are located. They could form a consortium for the project.
Sure, it might cost a little more but it will benefit our local businesses and recycle some of the cost. If they need help on specific features, our local contractors can hire a consultant as the City Council likes to do. As to the quality of their work, don’t you think they are good enough?
